Home Health Aides On The Lives Of People With Disabilities

Home health aides play an integral role in the lives of people with disabilities. Because home health aides are held responsible for their patient’s overall well-being, it is crucial that they contain the necessary skill sets to perform their job duties correctly. Given that the need for care of children, the elderly, the chronically ill and the disabled has not diminished over the past couple of years, the demand for home health aides has increased substantially over time. With the rise in medical advances that help keep people with serious injuries or illnesses alive and increased longevity, this demand is expected to increase dramatically. However, an issue for concern is that in most cases, home care providers are not licensed, and have no prior training requirements. Given that this occupation requires a great deal of responsibility, it is indispensable that home health aides have the knowledge necessary to administer the help required of them.
